I understand that the meeting which launched the European Ecological Movement in Strasbourg in 1974 was at an informal nongovernmental organisation level. Governmental participation was not invited and hence the question of representation of this country at official level at the meeting did not arise. It is open to Irish environmental groups to participate in the European Ecological Movement if they so wish.
