Regular determination of the acidity of rain is carried out by the Meteorological Service on a monthly basis for nine locations in this country as part of a programme of measurements established for several years. Observations on a more local scale, for limited periods, have been made by a number of other State and semi-State agencies. The figures available do not reveal any systematic trend towards increased acidity in rain water.
