Vol. 287 No. 7

Written Answers. - Public Supply Contracts.

136.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the extent to which Irish firms have competed for public supply contracts such as the supply of goods to meet the ongoing need of public and semipublic authorities in Europe.

No precise information is available as to the extent to which Irish firms have competed in public supply contracts in Europe. I am aware, however, that Irish firms have for some years competed for such contracts in Britain and that some Irish firms are currently in contact with the public authorities in another EEC member state with a view to securing business of this kind. Córas Tráchtála are actively engaged in the promotion of this type of business by Irish firms in Britain and on the continent through a variety of activities.
