Vol. 287 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Lettings.

1.

asked the Minister for Lands the amount of land which the Land Commission is offering for renting this year.

2.

asked the Minister for Lands the highest price per acre and the lowest in respect of 1976 lettings made to date.

3.

asked the Minister for Lands the amount of land for tillage which the Land Commission is offering for renting this year.

, Cavan): The information sought in Questions Nos. 1, 2 and 3 is being complied and will be available shortly. If the Deputy will repeat the questions in, say, two weeks time I will be in a position to give the information he requires.

The Minister will appreciate that I am precluded from asking the same questions in two weeks time.

(Cavan): I do not think so. Not in these circumstances. The Deputy has not been given the answers.

In regard to the amount of land which the Land Commission are offering for renting this year, has this renting not already taken place?

(Cavan): Not in every county. The information which the Deputy seeks will necessitate communicating with the inspectors in each county, and whether or not land will be let will depend on whether or not it is going to be allocated this year.

The Minister has said that if the Deputy puts down another question he will answer it. Some time ago a Minister told me the same and when I put it down it was ruled out of order by the Ceann Comhairle.

That is not a relevant comment.

(Cavan): I can only say that in my experience in the House I have heard Ministers in this Government and certainly in the last administration giving the answer that I am giving now.

If it is ruled out of order will the Minister communicate with the Deputy?
