Vol. 291 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leopardstown (Dublin) Road.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the serious concern of the residents of Leopardstown, County Dublin, and surrounding areas about major road widening proposals for the Leopardstown road; and if he will state the nature of the proposals, the reasons for them and the costs.

No proposals for the widening of this road have been submitted to me by the county council. I understand that committees of the Dublin County Council have arranged to hold a seminar today, 29th June, to which a study group representing residents in the area have been invited for the purpose of discussing the council's future road proposals in the south county.

Would the Minister indicate specifically in relation to the Leopardstown road whether there are such proposals?

There are no proposals before the Department. I understands there are proposals before the county council which will be discussed today at the seminar.

Do these proposals relate specifically to the widening of the Leopardstown road?

I am sorry but I could not give Deputy Andrews the exact details. The proposals for that area are under discussion at present. I think the seminar today is for the purpose of trying to explain them. I would assume if there is any point holding the seminar there will then be further consideration by the local authority.

Is the Minister suggesting the local residents' association and residents from the area have been invited to the seminar?

And that included in this general sort of discussion on the proposed road widening in the area will be a specific discussion on the Leopardstown road?

I understand that is so.

Does this refer to areas around Rathfarnham?

I am sorry. I would not know.
