4.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is intended to erect a kiosk at Parteen, County Clare.

Yes. Arrangements are in hand to select a suitable site.

5.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing telephone service for a person (name supplied) in Templeogue, Dublin.

It has not been practicable to provide telephone service for the applicant in question pending the provision of underground cables within the estate concerned. It is expected that this work will be undertaken during the first quarter of next year and that service will be provided during the second quarter.

6.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service on the latest date available.

About 41,000 at the end of September, 1976.

(Dublin Central): Could the Minister state if the waiting list is on the decline or on the increase?

It is on the decline.

(Dublin Central): Would the Minister state what were the figures for the previous 12 months?

At the end of 1975 it was 42,600, and the figure I have here is the latest figure available. It has just about peaked and is on its way down.
