I move:
That it be an instruction to the Committee on the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Bill, 1976, that it has power to make provision in the Bill in relation to an amendment to the Electricity Supply Board (Superannuation) Act, 1942, to provide improved benefits for members of the ESB Superannuation Schemes.
This motion relates to an amendment I wish to bring forward to enable the ESB to submit to me schemes amending the general employees and annual workers superannuation schemes to provide improved superannuation benefits for persons retiring or being discharged on account of ill-health. This provision is being added to bring the ESB superannuation scheme into line with recent similar improvements in the civil service superannuation code. It is necessary to move this motion because the amendment referred to does not relate to the main purpose of the Bill as originally put before the House.
