Vol. 296 No. 10

Written Answers. - Offaly Telephone Exchange.

94.

asked the Minister for Finance when the contract for the erection of a telephone exchange in Edenderry, County Offaly, was given out; the tender price; when the contractor commenced work on it; and the reason for the delay in its completion.

A tender for the erection of this building was accepted on 13th January, 1975, and the formal contract agreement was executed on 26th March, 1975. Work on the site commenced shortly afterwards and at first acceptable progress was made. Subsequently progress became unsatisfactory and the contract was determined in October, 1976. The tender of another contractor for the outstanding works was accepted on 2nd December, 1976, and it is expected that all work will be completed about the end of March next. It would be contrary to established practice to disclose the amount of an accepted tender.
