Vol. 298 No. 9

Written Answers. - Kerry Water Schemes.

70.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed Lismongane-Grenagh group water supply scheme at Forsa, Killarney, County Kerry.

I understand that this group have been advised by my Department's inspector to have a design prepared for their scheme.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government the amount of money made available by his Department in 1977 (a) for the construction of the reservoir at Barleymount, Killarney, (b) the completion of stage II of the mid-Kerry water supply scheme and (c) to enable group development to progress from this scheme during 1977.

A loan of £100,000 has been made available to Kerry County Council through the local loans fund to finance the construction of stage 2 of the mid-Kerry water supply scheme which includes the reservoir at Barleymount. The local authority have drawn £40,000 to date and further draws against the balance of the loan will be permitted as work progresses on the scheme.

Normal State and local authority grants and assistance have been made available for group schemes served from stage 1 and will be available to any groups taking a supply from stage 2 of this public scheme. Grants are paid as they become due and it is not the practice to earmark specific provision for group schemes in relation to particular public water supply schemes.
