Where post mortem examinations at factories show evidence of bovine tuberculosis the results are notified to the district veterinary office concerned which arranges, in consultation with the herd owner's veterinary practitioner for whatever further action is considered necessary in order to eradicate the disease. The presence of brucellosis in a herd is diagnosed on the basis of blood and milk tests and/or specimens submitted for laboratory examination. The post mortem examination does not provide conclusive evidence of the presence of this disease.
Details of post mortem findings are not sent direct to herdowners but adequate advice on how to cope with disease outbreaks is available to the affected herd owner from his veterinary practitioner and the district veterinary office.
