A grant has been sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of erecting a new central school at Ballingeary. I understand that the Commissioners of Public Works are at present in communication with the Cork County Council concerning the sewage facilities near the site and when this matter is resolved, the commissioners will be in a position to commence the preparation of working drawings, prior to the invitation of tender. It is not possible at this stage to say when the building of the new school will commence.

The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to inspect an alternative site offered recently for the new central school at Coolea to replace the Coolea and Bardinchey schools in order to determine its suitability. It is not possible at this stage to say when the building of the school will commence.
