Vol. 302 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ferenka Factory.

281.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce and Energy (a) the date on which, and the means by which he or the Government were first informed that a definite decision had been taken by the parent company to close the Ferenka factory at Annacotty, Limerick irrespective of whether the industrial disputes were resolved or work resumed; and (b) the date on which and the means by which he or the Government were first made aware of the parent company's proposal that the Government should take over Ferenka factory.

282.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy how it is calculated that the expenditure of £11,000,000 would be required to make the Ferenka factory viable.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 281 and 282 together.

These questions are related to the motion which is to be debated this evening and tomorrow evening and I propose therefore to deal with the matters at issue in the course of my intervention in that debate.
