asked the Minister for Health the number of psychiatric patients in St. Brendan's Hospital, Dublin for (a) under six months, (b) six to 12 months, (c) one to five years, (d) five to 10 years, (e) 10 to 15 years, (f) 15 to 20 years and (g) over 20 years.

A detailed survey carried out by the Eastern Health Board in 1975 into the patient population in St. Brendan's Hospital showed that 182 patients were in the hospital for less than six months, 83 between six and 12 months, 305 between one year and five years, 176 between five and ten years, 111 between ten and 15 years, 73 between 15 and 20 years and 177 over 20 years.
