Vol. 305 No. 7

Written Answers. - Cervical Smear Tests.

416.

asked the Minister for Health the facilities that are available in Dublin hospitals for women who wish to undergo a cervical smear test.

Facilities are available in the maternity hospitals and in most of the general hospitals in Dublin and to a limited extent at Hume St. Hospital and St. Anne's Hospital, Northbrook Road, for women wishing to undergo a cervical smear. Generally such women are referred to the hospital by their general medical practitioners and an appointment system operates. Adequate laboratory facilities exist for the testing of smears. There is also a laboratory at St. Luke's Hospital Dublin for the testing of smears referred directly by general medical practitioners.
