I am considering the granting of financial assistance for the improvement of the pier at Union Hall, County Cork and my Department have requested an engineering report on the pier from the Office of Public Works. Until such time as this report has been received and examined in my Department it is not possible to say what improvements, if any, will be authorised. I understand that An Bord Iascaigh Mhara have provided an ice store at Union Hall which they consider adequate for the present needs of local fishermen.
