Vol. 305 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Government's Legislation.

5.

asked the Taoiseach if he will identify those Acts or Bills introduced in the Oireachtas, by the present Government which were not (a) already drafted or (b) in the course of preparation in individual Departments, prior to the present Government taking office.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report, a statement giving the information sought.

Following is the statement:

(1) Acts:

Control of Exports (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1956 (Continuance) Act, 1977.

Gaeltacht Industries (Amendment) Act, 1977.

Health Contributions (Amendment) Act, 1978.

Industrial Credit (Amendment) Act, 1977.

Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1977.

Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1977.

Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary and Judicial Offices (Amendment) Act, 1977.

Shannon Free Airport Development Company Limited (Amendment) Act, 1978.

Social Welfare Act, 1978.

(2) Bills:

Finance Bill, 1978.

Local Government (Financial Provisions) Bill, 1977.

Rates on Agricultural Land (Relief) Bill, 1978.

(3) In addition to the above-mentioned Acts and Bills, certain important proposals contained in the

(a) Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) Bill, 1977,

(b) Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) (No. 2) Bill, 1977,

(c) Road Transport Bill, 1978, and

(d) Mergers, Take-Overs and Monopolies (Control) Bill, 1978

differ from those contained in earlier Bills which were in the course of preparation, or lapsed on dissolution of the 19th Dáil, prior to the present Government taking office.

It will be a pretty short one.

No, it is quite substantial. It covers two pages.

Would the Taoiseach indicate whether it would be accurate to say that two Bills were introduced by the present Government?

The Deputy will see for himself if he reads the Official Report. If he wishes I will read the list out but that would take me some time.
