Water and sewerage grants are payable by my Department to encourage the installation of proper piped services in existing houses which lack these facilities. While the amounts of the grants were substantially increased with effect from 1 November last, I do not propose to change the conditions governing the scheme in order to allow the grants to be paid in respect of new houses which do not qualify for new houses grants.
