417.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the preliminary report for Cloneygowan and Coolagarry sewerage schemes, County Offaly.

381.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the preliminary report in connection with Cloneygowan sewerage scheme, County Offaly, which has been with his Department since July 1976.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 379, 417 and 381 together. Offaly County Council's proposals for these schemes have to be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for sanitary services projects, the large programme of such projects in progress at present and their local priority. It is not possible at this stage to say when approval will issue to the proposals submitted.

380.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve contract documents for Edenderry water supply improvement scheme. County Offaly, which has been with his Department since March 1977, as such approval is urgently required to improve the water supply in the town for domestic and industrial use.

The scheme referred to by the Deputy, which was proposed to improve the quality only of the existing supply, is expected to be superseded by Stage 3 of the Rhode water supply scheme. This latter scheme, for which I understand the local authority are preparing contract documents, will provide a new good quality water supply in sufficient quantity to meet all the needs of the town.
