Vol. 305 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Cork New House Grant.

386.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he is aware of the considerable delay in finalising payment for a new house grant to a person (name supplied) in County Cork; and the reason for the delay.

A new house grant of £250 was approved in this case on 8 January 1973. An instalment of £125 was paid on 28 March 1973 and the balance of £125 on 8 June 1977 when the house was completed. In July 1977 the applicant sought the higher rate of grant payable to certain classes of persons residing in rural areas and in need of re-housing. The local authority were requested to certify the applicant's need for re-housing. The certificate was returned by the local authority on 21 December 1977, but was incomplete. The matter was, however, later resolved and the balance of £125 was paid on 10 March 1978.
