asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money (a) requested by each local authority for small dwelling acquisition during 1978; (b) the amount allocated in each case; and (c) the balance of money not yet allocated under this heading.
Written Answers. - Small Dwellings Acquisitions.
Separate estimates are not sought and separate allocations are not made to cover local authority house-purchase loan requirements. The provision for such loans forms part of a combined allocation to provide additionally for requirements arising for reconstruction loans and supplementary grants. The latter requirements, however, form only a small proportion of the overall amount.
The estimated requirements of each local authority in 1978 for these purposes is set out in column (1) of the following statement. As is established practice an initial allocation as set out in column (2) was made to each local authority in respect of the six month period ending on 30 June next. A further allocation will be made to each authority in the light of expenditure to 30 June and a further assessment of their needs for the second half of this year.
A sum of £22 million remains to be allocated for the second half.
