(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that many social welfare recipients who receive their allowances through the post are being inconvenienced and are suffering hardship as a result of postal deliveries not being made on Saturdays; and if he will take steps to have such benefits, which were formerly delivered on Saturdays, now delivered on Fridays.

: I am not aware that many social welfare recipients are being inconvenienced and are suffering hardship in the circumstances mentioned in the first part of the question. With regard to the second part of the question, my Department have already made arrangements for payments of various benefits made through the post to be delivered before Saturday. If the Deputy is aware of instances where these arrangements are not working satisfactorily, I will be glad if he would let me have details.
