asked the Minister for Labour the number of redundancies which have occurred in the following industries (a) textiles, (b) clothing and (c) footwear, from January 1973 to the latest available date.
: The number of redundancies notified to my Department as qualified under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1973, in the period 1 January 1973 to 31 March 1978 were (a) 6,990 in the textiles industries and (b) 4,397 in the clothing and footwear industries. Separate figures are not available for the footwear industry alone.
