Vol. 307 No. 2

Written Answers . - Raheny-Edenmore (Dublin) Post Primary Education .

158.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state, in relation to the Raheny/Edenmore area of Dublin city, if there are enough post-primary places to satisfy demand in the years 1979, 1980 and 1981 and, if so, where such places are located.

: A recent examination of the school situation indicates that in the years 1979, 1980 and 1981, there will be sufficient places to meet the needs of post-primary pupils from the Raheny-Edenmore area.

These places will be located mainly in Raheny, Edenmore, Killester and Clontarf, but also in Coolock, Sutton, Artane, Baldoyle, Fairview, Marino, Kilmore, Belcamp, Kilbarrack and Donahies.

A new community school is due to open at Bayside in 1980, and this will also take some pupils from the area.

159.

asked the Minister for Education if there is any record in his Department of a proposal to build a post-primary school in Edenmore, Dublin 5; the detailed nature of any such proposal; and if he has made any commitment in relation to it.

: My Department have reached agreement with the Sisters of the Holy Rosary Convent, Edenmore, to extend the Rosary School to accommodate 500 girls. The current enrolment is 270 girls.
