Vol. 307 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Federated Dublin Voluntary Hospitals .

20.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the progress to date on the proposals to transfer the Federated Dublin Voluntary Hospitals to the St. James's Hospital site; and when it is anticipated the move will be completed.

21.

asked the Minister for Health if any valuation has been undertaken of the Federated Dublin Voluntary Hospitals' sites.

: With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 20 and 21 together.

It will not be possible to finalise the transfer of the Federated Voluntary Hospitals to the St. James's Hospital site until the development of that hospital is completed. In the meantime a certain movement of services from the Federated Voluntary Hospitals to St. James's Hospital has taken place or is about to take place, for example, the haematology unit, professorial units in surgery and medicine and the central pathology laboratory.

The St. James's Hospital Board has had under examination the question of the implications of the transfer of services from Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital to St. James's Hospital in advance of the major development of the hospital.

As the disposal of the sites of the Federated Voluntary Hospitals will not arise for some time it would be premature to have them valued at this stage.
