The appointment of socio-economic advisers under EEC Directive 161 will be carried out in accordance with the relevant scheme prepared in my Department which has been approved by the EEC Commission. Information on the specific points raised by the Deputy regarding the qualifications, tasks and number of these advisers to be appointed is detailed in the scheme. As this is a rather lengthy document I am arranging for the supply of a copy to him.
