Vol. 309 No. 1

Written Answers. - Old Age Pensions.

453.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have a non-contributory old age pension paid to a person (name supplied) in County Cork.

A non-contributory old age pension at the maximum rate has been granted to the person concerned by decision of an appeals officer with effect from 23 January 1978 following confirmation that a deed of transfer of a farm has been stamped. The pension order book and arrears due were issued on 27 October 1978.

454.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have arrears of contributory old age pension paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The claim for old age contributory pension was rejected by a deciding officer on the ground that the person concerned failed to satisfy one of the statutory contribution conditions.

A non-contributory pension was awarded with effect from 1 October 1977 and a pension order book at the appropriate rate effective from 23 December 1977 was issued.

No arrears of pension are due for the intervening period as the claimant was in receipt of unemployment benefit at a rate higher than that of the old age pension during the entire period.
