Vol. 310 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonmel Traffic.

18.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he will meet a deputation in connection with the rerouting of traffic in Clonmel, County Tipperary, which has adversely affected traders in the Parnell Street and Mitchell Street areas.

19.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he has made any order recently affecting traffic in Clonmel, County Tipperary; and, is so, if he will give details.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 18 and 19 together.

No order affecting traffic in Clonmel was made recently by me. The Clonmel Traffic and Parking By-Laws, 1976, were made by the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána in consultation with Clonmel Corporation. The specific prohibitions or restrictions on parking or traffic in the streets referred to are matters for the Garda Commissioner to which my consent is not required and it would not be appropriate for me, therefore, to meet a deputation as suggested.
