(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction payment of an honours allowance for a person (details supplied) in County Cavan, who is in the employment of Country Cavan Vocational Education Committee in Cavan School; and if he will explain the delay in dealing with this case.

My Department have been engaged on a review of the conditions upon which qualifications allowances are payable to certain non-graduate teachers in post-primary schools.
This review has now been completed and a circular letter in the matter will be issued to school authorities shortly. The provisions of the circular letter will apply to the case to which the Deputy refers.
