Vol. 310 No. 9

Written Answers. - European Parliament Elections.

184.

asked the Minister of the Environment why Irish Embassies will not provide Irish nationals in EEC member states with facilities for voting in the direct elections to the European Parliament; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The law relating to European Assembly elections does not contain provision for voting at the elections by Irish citizens resident abroad. The persons entitled to be registered as electors for the purpose of these elections are Irish citizens and nationals of the other member states who in each case are ordinarily resident here and have reached the age of 18 years.
