This monument is not in the care of the Commissioners of Public Works for preservation under the National Monuments Acts of 1930 and 1954 and consequently the commissioners are not authorised to make funds available for its preservation.
Will the Minister consider taking it under the care of the Office of Public Works.
Yes. The Garda occupy part of that area. I am seeking alternative accommodation for the Garda and I am giving very serious consideration to taking this monument under State control.
