From time to time individual health boards have considered the possibility of establishing their own dental laboratories or employing dental technicians directly but, to date, they have all continued to use the services of commercial laboratories. In general the service received from commercial laboratories is satisfactory. However, this issue will be considered on a national basis as part of the comprehensive review of dental services now under way.
