The question of transferability of pension rights is being dealt with in the context of the general examination arising out of the Green Paper "A National Income-Related Pension Scheme". Submissions on the various issues raised in the Green Paper have now been received from the major interest groups in this area and discussions have been held with a number of these groups. Many individual submissions have also been received. The need for protection of pension rights on changes of employment and the possible form which such protection should take is a major area of concern and has been the subject of detailed comment and discussion. In the light of the views and comments received, I hope to be in a position to put before the Government proposals for further action in the pensions area.
