asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if it is correct that those wishing to develop aquaculture in Ireland are unable to obtain the benefit of the 50 per cent grant available from EEC funds because the Government have not made available the necessary funds to provide the minimum 5 per cent grant required by EEC Council Regulation number 1852/78; and if he will take immediate steps in this matter since applications for grant aid must be submitted to the Commission before 1 December 1978.

Grants are available for mariculture projects from a number of State sources and I am not aware of any difficulty in applying for FEOGA grants under Regulation 1852/78.
