I have no such meetings under consideration.
The Taoiseach may have noted the remarks of the Minister for Foreign Affairs last evening that he did not expect this matter to be concluded for some months. The Taoiseach is aware that the moneys associated with membership of the EMS, it is suggested, should be earmarked for certain capital purposes. Would the Taoiseach agree that since the decision has been made to enter, the sooner these moneys are obtained the better? In these circumstances would the Taoiseach agree that it adds to the confusion about investment in the country that this matter of the EMS still remains unresolved? In view of that, would the Taoiseach think that a meeting between himself and other Prime Ministers or with one or other of the Prime Ministers might be useful?
It is not necessary at this stage because the problem of the delay in the implementation of the introduction of the EMS is being processed through normal Community channels, and that is adequate for the moment.
When does the Taoiseach expect to have precise information regarding the financial arrangements for entry into the EMS?
I cannot say yet, but I understand from Brussels that the matter is being processed with reasonable goodwill and I hope with due expedition.
