Vol. 313 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin City Industries.

191.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the major proposals, if any, for the provision of new industries or the expansion of existing ones in the Dublin city area.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a somewhat similar question on 9 November 1978. In 1978 the Industrial Development Authority approved projects with a total job potential of almost 10,000 for the Dublin area, and this very high level of job commitments has been sustained in 1979 to date.

So far as the inner city is concerned, the authority are proceeding with a £4 million programme to provide 270,000 sq. ft. of factory space with potential to accommodate 1,200 jobs at the Liberties, Pearse Street and East Wall with a further 800 jobs at other locations over the next two years. Development of small industries in the inner city will be actively promoted.
