asked the Minister for the Environment to review the application of a certain person (details supplied) for a house improvement grant with a view to having it adjusted from £300 to £600, as grants of £600 have been approved of in respect to other applications from the same housing estate where the work carried out was generally similar.

As a new house grant had been paid to Killarney UDC in respect of this house in May 1973, the application for an improvement grant for the person named was considered in the light of limited grants available for specific purposes, in this case the relief of overcrowding. A special grant of £300 was properly approved and there appears to be no basis for a revision.
If the Deputy has information in relation to similar cases where higher grants were approved, he might communicate directly with the housing grants section of my Department.
