The estimated numbers of persons who attended adult education courses in 1977-78 under the auspices of vocational education commitees, comprehensive and community schools and certain Voluntary bodies in receipt of grants from my Department are as follows: (a) Vocational Education Committees, 87,000; (b) Comprehensive and Community Schools, 10,000; (c) Voluntary bodies funded by my Department, (i) Dublin Institute of Adult Education, 2,800; (ii) Irish Countrywomen's Association, 3,000.
Statistics are not available to my Department in respect of attendance of persons at adult education courses under the auspices of other organisations.
