Vol. 313 No. 9

Written Answers. - Westmeath River.

309.

asked the Minister for Finance when the Office of Public Works will be cleaning the Kinnegad river from Kinnegad Bridge to Rattin Bridge; the negotiations that are going on at present with Westmeath County Council; when it is likely they will conclude; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Drainage works on the Kinnegad River would interfere with the public water supply for Kinnegad and are being deferred pending the outcome of negotiations between the Commissioners of Public Works and the Westmeath County Council in regard to alternative arrangements for the water supply. It is hoped that the negotiations will be concluded and that the alternative water supply will be available in the near future, thus permitting resumption of drainage works on the river.
