Vol. 313 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

315.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment assistance has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal who applied in early January, and when payment will be made.

The delay in processing the claim of the person concerned was due to difficulties in communication between head office and the local office dealing with the claim.

Arrangements have now been made to have payment made this week.

316.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why unemployment assistance has not been paid to a person in County Donegal with eight children (details supplied) for the past 12 weeks and when payment will be made.

The claim to unemployment assistance of the person concerned was disallowed by a deciding officer of the grounds that the claimant failed to disclose his means. The claimant has appealed against the disallowance and his case is presently being investigated.

Due to difficulties in communication by reason of the postal and telephone dispute it is not possible to state the up-to-date position of the inquiries.

I will inform the Deputy of the position as soon as the information comes to hand.
