asked the Minister for Health if any scheme is presently operated whereby sufferers from coeliac diseases may obtain partial or total reimbursement for the purchase of special gluten-free foods; and if not, if he will make such a facility available.

Persons with coeliac disease who are covered by medical cards obtain prescribed gluten-free products free of charge.

Persons who are not covered by medical cards may include, in claims for refund of part of their expenditure on medicine, the cost of prescribed gluten-free products purchased from retail pharmacies.
