Vol. 315 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

89.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided to an applicant (details supplied) in Dublin.

It is expected that service will be provided within the next six months.

90.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

It is expected that service will be provided about the middle of next year.

91.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if and when a telephone service will be provided for the area between Glenamuck and Kilternan, County Dublin; and the distance from Glenamuck cottages to the nearest public phone.

There is already a telephone kiosk at Kilternan. There are no plans at present to provide a further telephone kiosk in the area as the use likely to be made of it would not be sufficient to warrant its provision. The distance from Glenamuck cottages to the nearest telephone kiosk, at Kilternan, is about two kilometres.

92.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for telephone service in Ashton Estate, Knocklyon Road, Templeogue, County Dublin; and when service will be provided.

The number is 76. Service will be provided when the necessary cabling becomes available in about a year's time.

93.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for whom telephone service has not yet been provided in the Dargle Wood Estate, Rathfarnham, Dublin; and when service will be provided.

The number is 82. Service will be provided following completion of the necessary cabling work in the first half of next year.

94.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the telephone service will be restored to the public kiosk at St. Cronan's Estate, Swords, County Dublin.

A coin-box to replace one stolen in mid-May is necessary to enable service to be restored. This cannot, regrettably, be obtained until the warehousing staff, who are on strike, resume duty. The repairs will have attention then.

95.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in Balbriggan, County Dublin.

Service will be provided as soon as a cabling scheme, on which provision of service depends, is completed in the second half of next year.

96.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for the residents of Tara Court, Balbriggan, County Dublin, and if the installation will involve cabling work.

Service will be provided following the completion of the necessary cabling schemes about the middle of next year.

97.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in Dublin.

There is no record of receipt of an application from the person named. If an application is received service could be provided about the middle of next year when a cabling scheme necessary to enable service to be given is expected to be completed.

98.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone services will be provided for applicants at St. Cronan's Estate, Swords, County Dublin.

It is expected that terms will be quoted to 13 of the 16 applicants in the estate when normal postal services are resumed. Service will be provided for the remaining three later this year when the cabling work necessary to enable service to be given is expected to be completed.
