asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of a recent 200 per cent increase in fees chargeable to various athletic clubs for the use of the Belfield track and, in view of the consequent discouragement for such clubs and young people involved, the proposals, if any, to facilitate local authorities to pay increased grants to the clubs to ensure continued use of the track.

I have no functions with regard to the charge made for the use of the track referred to in the Deputy's question.
The question of contribution by local authorities in respect of the provision of facilities for games or other recreation is a matter for decision by the local authorities themselves who make such contributions from their own resources.
