No specific proposals have been submitted to the Industrial Development Authority for the siting of a wood pulp factory in County Cork. Following the completion of the study of the timber processing industry undertaken by the Industrial Development Authority in conjunction with the Forest and Wildlife Service of the Department of Fisheries and Forestry the wood pulp product area is being studied with a view to identifying how the maximum return can be obtained from our timber resources. An extensive programme has been undertaken by the IDA in the USA and in Europe aimed at securing new pulp using projects. The siting of any such projects cannot, of course, be determined at this stage.
