Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Disabled Persons Benefit.

192.

asked the Minister for Health whether any additional benefit can be given by the health boards in the payment of a disabled persons maintenance allowance where the applicant has dependants and the plans, if any, to remedy the situation.

The present legislation governing the disabled persons maintenance allowance scheme does not provide for payments in respect of dependants. However, it is open to recipients of these allowances to apply for assistance for dependants under the supplementary welfare allowances scheme.
