asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of reported recent incursions into the north Louth area by British Army personnel, the result of investigations carried out by the Garda into these incursions and the measures he intends to take in this matter.

In the period since the beginning of September to the day the Deputy's question was put down four cases were reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs of incursions in the north Louth area by the British Army. In one of these cases the British authorities have confirmed that an incursion took place and have expressed their regret. The British authorities deny that any other incursion took place.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the action members of the public should take if they observe British military personnel entering the Twenty-six County territory or its airspace.

Anyone who observes British military personnel enter our jurisdiction should inform the local Garda Síochána without delay or write to the Department of Foreign Affairs about the matter.
