Statistics of prosecutions under the Gaming and Lotteries Acts, 1956 to 1979, are not available, as the figures are included under a "Miscellaneous" heading in the Garda Commissioner's Annual Reports on Crime.
As it is known that there have been some hundreds of such prosecutions already this year, it can reasonably be taken that some cases are pending at present but information as to the number would have to be specially compiled from records at local level and I do not think that the value of the figures would be commensurate with the work involved which would have to be done at the expense of other duties.
