Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin School Capitation Grant.

443.

asked the Minister for Education if he will grant the application from the Board of Management, St. Joseph's primary girls school, East Wall, Dublin 3, for an increase in the capitation grant payable to the school in view of the special conditions and problems of children living in the inner city area and if a special grant will be made for necessary maintenance of this school.

The capitation grant from the Department of Education in the case of national schools has been increased from £8 to £10 in respect of the present school-year. Provision has been made by way of a Supplementary Estimate for payment of an additional £1 per pupil in respect of the increased cost of fuel and this payment will be made to schools before 31 December 1979. The running costs of each school, including maintenance, are a charge on the general income of the school.
