Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Inner Study Group.

126.

asked the Minister for Economic Planning and Development when the group to study the Dublin inner city area will be established; when it is anticipated that this group will commence its study; the names of those who will be represented on this group and their interests in the development of the inner city.

In May last the Government announced the establishment of the inner city group which has been set up to further the work of the Interdepartmental Committee on Dublin inner city and to co-ordinate and develop a programme of action by the Departments and State agencies operating in the inner city. The Government also made available £1 million to the group towards developing a programme of action by the various Departments and State agencies operating in the inner city and towards accelerating the pace of action in dealing with inner city problems. The group, which reports to me, is composed of senior officials of the Departments concerned with aspects of life in the inner city and has held a number of meetings.

Its work is oriented towards action and it has made certain recommendations which are under consideration.
