Vol. 317 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Cavan Bog Road.

130.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for Economic Planning and Development the reasons for the delay in paying a grant to West Cavan Turf Co-Operative in respect of repairs to a road leading into Commas Bog, Swanlinbar, County Cavan, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no commitment to pay a grant from the Special Regional Development Fund to West Cavan Turf Co-Operative in respect of repairs to a road leading into Commas Bog, Swanlinbar. The question of a delay in paying such a grant, therefore, does not arise.

The Cavan County Development Team have been asked, in common with other teams in the western countries, to submit proposals for the improvement of specific access roads to bogs in their counties, the intention being to use such projects for the purpose of job creation within the context of the provisions of the National Understanding.

I have asked the team to consider including the access needs of Commas bog when they are preparing their reply.
