Vol. 318 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 5 and 6 (resumed); Private Members' Business from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., No. 75 by agreement.

Does the Taoiseach intend to allow the House time to debate the NESC report on transport policy or will the Minister for Transport make a statement on the Government's position regarding the future of the railways and in particular Inchicore railway works?

The Deputy has not given any notice that he intended raising this matter.

This is a matter of extreme urgency in view of the threatened strike next week——

The question is not in order.

——which could seriously cripple the country and put the whole future of CIE——

The Deputy may not raise the matter in this way and he is aware of that. He is seeking to raise it in a disorderly manner.

This is a matter of extreme urgency. I am asking the Taoiseach to allow time to be given to debate the railways——

I have already said this is not in order.

I wish to raise this matter on the Adjournment.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
